When my Mindful Construction team brings in Eichler projects, I am always psyched. The homeowners of this midcentury gem have already done an amazing interior renovation/restoration. Now it’s time to update the exterior. Eichlers are the quintessential indoor/outdoor midcentury California living homes. This project will be installed in phases and include new hardscaping all around, lawn conversion (front and back). Phase One includes the front and back side yards with screening and raised garden beds to be accessed, viewed and enjoyed via the incredible new kitchen (shown below). We want to look outside that kitchen window and see a living wall instead of the fence and neighbors roof. Foundation beds will be updated all around and eventually the atrium. New trees, new retaining/seating wall, new plants, new flooring extending from the inside out—hello, Concrete Collaborative… we love you. Overall goal is updating all the outdoor spaces for the whole family to enjoy.

Being in relatively close proximity to Ruth Bancroft Garden, the homeowners have an impressive collection of some RBG favorites. Existing plant highlights that will be moved to more suitable spaces: Grevillea, Lomandra, and a few different types of Yucca.

It’s going to be incredible. Stay tuned for updates.
